Public Transportation to the Windy City Uke Fest 2008
We recommend that you come into Chicago Thursday afternoon. If you plan to travel about, or stay at a hotel other than at the Best Western Des Plaines, you should buy a 5-day visitors pass for $18.
From O'Hare Airport / Best Western Des Plaines
If you are arriving at O'Hare, you can get a free ride to the Best Western Des Plaines, make arrangements with the hotel people first at 847-297-2100. There is a voucher reimbursement process. There is a three block walk to the Windy City Uke Fest at 1591 Lee St, Des Plaines, IL 60018, NE corner of Lee/Manheim & Oakton.
Via Train and Bus from Midway Airport to Windy City Uke Fest 2008 (est. time 2.5 hours)

You want to take the Blue Line to O'Hare from Downtown Chicago. You want to get off one stop before O'Hare. The "L" stands for ELEVATED train. Other call our train system the CTA (Chicago Transist Authority). The "L" stop is called "Rosemont". You can take a bus from here to the festival.

By bus, you can take
1 )Walk .1 miles north to River Rd & Evenhouse (est, time 35 minutes, bus part only)
2) Take the 230 to Des Plaines Metra Bus Stop (N)
3) Take the 250 to Lee & Oaks Shopping Center
Look for the theTikiTerrace.com in the NE corner of Lee & Oakton
or
1) Walk .1 miles north to River Rd & Evenhouse (est. time 25 minutes, bus part only)
2) Take the 233 to Mannheim & Higgins
3) Take the 250 to Lee & Oaks Shopping Center

This one is a little faster.
As for a transfer which is full fare (1.75 plus .85) is $2.60. You might want
to get a 5-day visitors pass for $18 from the CTA rather than pay $5.00 per day.
It will take about an 1 1/2 hours from downtown Chicago to get to the Tiki Terrace.
During rush hours, the "L" train is faster than driving on the expressway..
